This Job
Performance test the “HANDS-ON”, is composed of six (6) separate
stations. Each is allotted ˝ hour each maximum time limit. Only an IFPS
Accredited JPP Instructor can proctor this test.
STATION #1
Identify 20 components by the symbol in a schematic drawing.
This station consists of a Hydraulic or Pneumatic schematic with various
components for symbol identification. This requires a written component
explanation and is not multiple choice.
STATION # 2
This station has 8 fasteners and 8 fittings that require
identification as to type, size, length, thread and grade. Each item has
five (5) multiple choice answers from which to choose. This station includes a
bolt sizing template, thread pitch gauge, 6” rule and International thread
identification kit.
STATION # 3
This station is for testing the candidate in the use of a Multimeter,
there are 24 questions for readings taken on a test circuit board it is not
multiple choice. The readings are for voltage, amperage, and resistance.
STATION # 4
Testing the ability to take measurements ranging from 1/16 to
.0001”. Requires using scales, dial calipers and micrometers. A pump piston and
a hydraulic valve spool are used for the measurements. This is not a multiple
choice station.
STATION # 5
Requires identifying size, type and pressure ratings of two
(2) steel tubes, two (2) rubber hoses, one (1) copper and one (1) nylon tube.
Dial calipers and data sheets are provided to aid in this task. This station is
not multiple choice.
STATION # 6
Bend and flare a tube (steel for hydraulics, copper for
pneumatics) to fit a fixture. This tests skill in compound bending to fit a
fixture. All tubing, tools and data sheets are provided.
