Tribute to Ted Kukobo
Detroit Chapter One – Individual Highlights There have been so many people involved in developing Detroit Chapter One over the years that it is difficult to pick just one individual that has had the greatest influence on the Chapter’s success. During the last 10 years there have been several individuals that freely gave of their time to support the Chapter and promote the National’s vision on fluid power and motion control. One of these individuals that the Chapter would like to highlight is Ted Kukobo. Ted was the Chapter’s Educational Chair and Show Chair. He spent many hours working for the Chapter, putting on successful Fluid Power Shows in the Detroit Area. These shows provided the participants and exhibitors with insight on emerging fluid power technology, products and services.
He also felt very strongly about promoting education in fluid power. Ted wanted to make sure that the Chapter continually generated new blood for our industry. One way to accomplish this was to provide Chapter scholarships for the upcoming High School and College fluid power students. Ted worked with the local instructors at the High Schools and Colleges to develop the proper selection criteria to ensure those most qualified would benefit from the scholarships.
Though Ted passed away this summer, he leaves the Chapter with a process in place to continue his work in promoting scholarship awards. Detroit Chapter One will miss him and his dedication to the Chapter and fluid power. 11/12/02
