“Running Effective Meetings and Conflict Resolution”

In the first of two presentations, learn the principles and techniques of holding more productive meetings.  Meetings are a necessary tool for accomplishing goals through direct interaction with people.  In this age of workplace downsizing, meetings must be effective and use time efficiently. In order to encourage attendance at our meetings, we must make them worthwhile for the participants. People look forward to participating in meetings that help them accomplish their work and personal goals.  Our first presentation will help you achieve desirable results at meetings by learning to exercise effective leadership in handling common situations with groups and individuals.

Our second presentation is designed to provide an understanding of the principles of resolving conflicts.  Unresolved conflicts in the workplace may cause stress and reduce productivity.  Learning the principles and techniques of resolving conflicts will enable you to improve the effectiveness of your interactions with others.

The ASME Council on Member Affairs (CMA) initiated the Standardized Leadership Training (SLT) Program in 1995 to strengthen the basic building block of the Society . . . the Section. The primary objective was to provide section leaders with standardized training in the leadership and administrative skills that enable them to run their sections more efficiently and more effectively . . . thus strengthening the Sections.  These same programs are also beneficial to engineers in the workplace and are being offered as training seminars for our members.  Please come join us for a presentation of two of these SLT training programs.
