| Chapter News Dear Central Florida Members, The purpose of this newsletter is to update local members of what is happening in Chapter 49 as well as plans for the future development of the Central Florida Chapter. Here are a few things to consider. 
Do you participate in the local meetings? Do you know when or where they are held? Do you know there are guest speakers and training? Local Chapter Meeting Did you know these meetings add to your re-certification points? Did you know that there are guided tours of facilities and behind the scenes visits to attractions? My guess is your answer is NO to most if not all of these questions. During the last couple of years local chapter meetings have enjoyed behind the scenes tour of "Honey I shrunk the Audience" and "The American Adventure" show in Disney World. They have also received presentations and training on different aspects of hydraulics and pneumatics. One of the major objectives of this Chapter in 2010 is growth, basically to get more members to attend and participate in these meetings. Many of you could ask "What is in it for me?" or "What can I get out of these meetings?" You can network with other piers from your industry. Learn from presentations and site visits. Accumulate points towards re-certification. The simple answer is the Chapter is only as strong as the membership wants it to be. I became a member two years ago and along with several others studied and achieved the Connector and Conductor Certification. During this we time attended a number of local chapter meetings, learnt a lot from speaking to others who came to these meetings and last month was voted to become the membership liaison for the Chapter. This year we plan to send out a newsletter once a month to let you know what is happening in your local chapter. Now we have some questions for you Do you want to participate in any meetings? Do you have any ideas or suggestions you want to share with the local Chapter? Do you have a facility that you are proud of and want to host a meeting or give a guided tour? Would you like to meet and learn other piers from your Industry? If the answer to any of these is YES then please contact either Scott or myself for further details.
