On Thursday 26th of January over twenty chapter members attended a behind the scenes tour of E-ONE in Ocala. This once in a lifetime opportunity was only possible due to the kind offer of E-ONE to host an IFPS Chapter meeting. All the attendees were treated to a sandwiches and drinks before the tour of the SVO plant began.
"Being able to touch, feel and actually sit in some of these high tech fire rescue vehicles manufactured by E-ONE is like being a kid in a candy store," said Scott Gower, president of the local chapter.
Each rescue vehicle is manufactured with the customer in mind, including aircraft style joystick controls for exterior functions and individually molded seats for fire crews.
Using vehicle demonstrations the group was able to see and learn how the combination of technology and the fluid power systems plays a significant role in the safety of the operation of the extendable ladders and stabilizers.
All of the people who attended "the tour of the year" recognize the time and the hard work put into making this visit a huge success. And we would like to specifically thank Leroy Stephens, IFPS chapter member and Peter Guile the president of E-ONE who made this possible.

In January the chapter received the sad news that Raymond Walls of Osteen, FL had passed away at the age of 67. Ray had been in the hydraulic/pneumatic field for the last 40 years and was a former business partner of the Ernst Fluid Power Company, Cincinnati, OH branch. Ray was past president of the Central Florida Chapter of the International Fluid Power Society. He was an Army veteran who served in Vietnam. Ray is survived by his wife Barbara and son Matthew also of Osteen Fl.
At the last meeting, Chapter Members shared some fond memories and agreed to donate $100 to the Special Needs Work Program in Ray's Honor.
One of the primary missions of the IFPS is to facilitate and promote the advancement of technology and professionalism of the fluid power & motion control industry through Awareness, Education, and Certification. Based on the success of the C and C certifications hosted by PIRTEK USA in Rockledge the chapter elected to purchase a Job Performance Test Kit which can be used in the certification of individuals wishing to take both the Mobile Hydraulic Mechanic and the Mobile Hydraulic Technician certification level.
